Manly House - Part #1

Gerald Beckman

Manly’s vision includes the strength of youth, the beauty of nature -- without true human contact…
He wanted a different clientele. He had dreamed of building his own inn high in the mountains since he was old enough to dream such dreams. He would call it Manly House and it would be different from all others. Its guests would visit by invitation only, and they would be young. Young people with strong limbs and lungs, tanned bodies and unjaded spirits who would hike up steep rocky trails they themselves would help build and maintain in exchange, perhaps, for a portion of the cost of their lodging – people who, by their presence, would add beauty and grace to the landscape.

On My Way Home - Part #1

Ariana Merrill

“It seems like the summers just keep getting shorter and shorter,” stated Sadie on the way home. The girls were making their way back to their family’s farms through the shady forest.
“I know what you mean. The whole time we were in Math I kept wishing we could leave and go back to my house. I have such a craving for pizookie,” answered Eleanor.
“That sounds so good right now!”
“Race you to my house!” Eleanor challenged excitedly.
“Don’t you think we’re a little too old for that?” asked Sadie.
“You only say that because you know you’d lose.”
“Oh, really?” Sadie took off through the trees laughing. Eleanor ran after in pursuit of her friend.
Sadie yelled out, “come on, you can do better than that!” when she heard the crash. She stopped dead in her tracks and looked back, but Eleanor was nowhere to be seen. “Elle!” she screamed frantically.

Editorial - Part #1 (Welcome Readers and Authors!!!)

Catherine Balachowski

Welcome fantasy readers and writers, it is with great pleasure that I greet you with the fine writings of our authors. This e-zine has been a dream of mine for some years now and I hope that the readers and authors that visit enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed envisioning it. The reader will find fresh stories and depth of emotion within the tales and occasionally, a good dose of much needed humor. Fear not my welcomed adventurer, these crafty writers have woven tales that linger on the fringes of your awakening mind.
The authors who choose to work with us will find support and encouragement. As we all wait for the next journey, which only the writers’ imagination and belief in magick can take us on.
